About Our Research

TMN conducted a needs assessment on the NJ Muslim community to identify its strengths and areas of need. These findings may provide a beneficial roadmap for NJ Muslim community leaders as we strategize where to direct our focus and resources. TMN published our findings in this report, “A Needs Assessment on the New Jersey Muslim Community.“

Key findings include:

  • 89% of NJ Muslims perceive Islamophobia to be a significant issue in the NJ Muslim community.

  • 54.62% of NJ Muslims do not view the NJ Muslim community to be gender-diverse and inclusive.

  • Across 670 NJ Muslims surveyed, the three most significant community issues they reported are: media portrayal of Muslims (92%), Islamophobia (89%), and racism within the Muslim community (68%).
