Art Submission: "We Are Welcome Here, Too!"

by Mahinour Abdou

Hello! I'm Mahinour Abdou and as a student artist going through ups and downs and challenges all around, it's important to realize that no matter how difficult a task may be, never ever lose hope, faith, and forgiveness under any circumstances. It’s like not trying to grow up but as well as being able to cherish life at its most is a must even when time goes fast and yet we grow faster too, so remember to enjoy life to the fullest. My goal is to [brighten] a person’s day and spark some inspiration onto one another’s life too.

In this painting, I am not only showing a Muslim woman in her hijab [who] is getting ready to experience the nature of the world, but it also [represents] other people from different places across the globe as well, who are also face the same discriminatory/racist treatment.

If, for once, a human being would at least [attend a] lecture, go back to school, read a book, and [learn] about how beautiful Islam truly is. Because Islam is so beautiful and there is no such thing as hate, racism, or discrimination in it — just prayers, love, generosity, kindness, and knowledge. It takes a real human being to become a hero to save people like me and you, because, as titled, we are welcome here, too!
